Rights belonging to the citizens of Riverside
b. Public property /Ownership by the people of Riverside
c. Rights of access given to elected officials and hired employees to work for the
betterment of the City
d. Political ramifications by actions taken for personal or political gain. Ingratiating behavior
towards the public by overstepping their authority and ignoring public consideration.
e. (Why change the City Charter if you don't adhere to the rules of the City ?)
2. Naming of a Public Structure
a. Who can add, change or delete a public structure name?
A person, a private or public entity or group, or a business conglomerate
who might influence for their own motivation?
b. What type of structure to bestow on honoree? For example, an old or new building,
a street or highway, a statue, school, or park.
c. What standards to be considered for this high honor? Are there certain levels or categories the
honoree had to attain in their accomplishments?
d. Does the monies public or private for this structure be considered? For example, if more public or
private monies were used to create the structure would influence the naming of the structure?
e. When does the honor get bestowed? (This was a bit macabre.)
Should the honor be bestowed on a living ordead honoree?
One of our forefathers, ie Frank Miller, Eliza Tibbetts or, even, Ryan Bonaminio?
Or, living Judge Gabbert, other City or Government officials or dedicated volunteers
who put their whole lives into improving Riverside by their outstanding work.
3. Mayor Ronald O. Loveridge
a. His numerous, outstanding accomplishments which all can be listed.
b. His time served as an elected official.
c. His notoriety as Mayor of Riverside with other State and International figures.
d. His determination to get things done.
e. His failures.
-- He did not work towards giving all of Riverside accessibility to events in the
downtown area by improving transportation.
-- He did not bring in business to offset the cost of the Renaissance and burdened
the homeowner by taxation.
-- He changed the format to the City Council's agenda where the more important
things that need to be discussed are in the late hours of the evening.
-- He cut down public comment time to three minutes instead of five minutes.
-- He creates groups that are not balanced with the public and more influential people.
MY COMMENT
On 10/3 City Council's Agenda Item #8, 1 spoke against changing the name of City Hall to include Mayor
Loveridge's name.) have nothing against Mayor Loveridge personally. His credibility is outstanding!
