Distribution:
City Manager
Legal
Property Services

Mayor Ron Loveridge and
City Council Members
Riverside City Hall
3900 Main Street
Riverside, CA 92501

11/8/98

NOV 18 1998

Re: Tennis Center Sale

CC:

Dear Mayor Loveridge and City Council Members;

Due to Marriott' s default on the original Purchase and Sale Agreement,
you will probably be presented with another oppommity to reject this ill
conceived plan impacting our area, as you review this matter and a possible
extension of the initial 60 day due diligence period granted to Marriott.

We strongly urge you to utilize such an oppommity to reject Marriott' s
proposal. Attached please find copies of the signatures of over 200 city
residents urging you to reject this proposal, and retaining the character of our
neighborhood. (Note: We continue to collect additional signatures.)

In addition to rejecting this proposal, we urge you to join us in a
coalition effort to create a long term solution to this situation. We are
attempting to egage interested parties, who are committed to not only
defeating the Marriott proposal, but also in creating an alternative solution.

Fingers can be pointed in many directions,- at the city, the tennis
players, the community - as to why this has not happened previously. But
let' s get beyond this approach, and solve this matter so that all interests can-
be served.

Thank you for your consideration. We will be present at the City
Council meeting if/when this matter is heard.

City Clerk (
Larry Paulson
