Cit 4 1 : 41 11 1 . 5 City Council Memorandum <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL <br />FROM: <br />SUBJECT: <br />ISSUE: <br />GENERAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT <br />DATE: August 9, 2011 <br />ITEM NO: 32 <br />WARDS: ALL <br />BID NO. 6986 — TIRE RECAPPING FOR CITY VEHICLES <br />The issue for City Council consideration is award of Bid No. 6986 to Tarulli Tire Inc., of Santa Ana, <br />CA; for tire recapping for City vehicles. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />That the City Council award Bid No. 6986 to Tarulli Tire Inc., of Santa Ana, CA; in the amount of <br />$132,029.20 for tire recapping for City vehicles. <br />BACKGROUND <br />The Fleet Maintenance Division purchases recapped tires for certain City vehicles. Recapping tires <br />is good for the environment since fewer tires are being consumed. To ensure safety, tire recapping <br />has only been used on the rear wheels of heavy duty vehicles. <br />On June 23, 2011, Bid No. 6986 for the annual requirement of recapped tires was issued. Eight (8) <br />responses were received. The lowest responsive bid was from Tarulli Tire Inc., of Santa Ana, CA. <br />The Purchasing Services Manager concurs with the recommendation above. <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />Funds in the amount of $132,029.20 are available in the FY 2011 -12 General Services Department <br />budget Account No. 0000650 - 141200 and are subsequently charged to user Departments through <br />Central Garage charges. <br />Prepared by: Kris Martinez, General Services Director <br />Certified as to availability <br />of funds: Paul C.
