CITY OF RIVERSIDE Minutes of Adjourned Regular Meeting ing of the City Council -,o minutes (Date of Meeting: January 5, 1970 Time of Meeting: 11:30 A.M. ` 1 Place_ of PSeet inp :__E1 Mundo Room Mfssion_Inn ____________WARDS ' _____ _____ ____ !Roll Roll Call: I Present This being a joint meeting between the Riverside County Board :of Supervisors and the Riverside City Council, Board Chairman, ,Ray Seeley, called the meeting to order. 1 SCNOOL 'TAXES - WELFARE COSTS jBoard Member Norman Davis was called upon to comment upon the initiative measure being sponsored through the County Supervi- I sors' Association in connection with efforts to reduce school :taxes and place more of the burden of welfare on the State rather than Counties. Following a lengthy discussion, and af- t ter all interested persons had asked questions or commented on (the proposed initiative, it was determined that no position or action be taken on the proposal at this time, but that at a (later date all should be informed and prepared to take a posi- tion on the Measure. 1 :AIR POLLUTION ,Mr. Cliff Seymour, Riverside County Air Pollution Control. Of- :ficer, was called upon to comment on the Rules Banning Open (Outdoor Burning and Inefficient Incinerators. :Councilmen Younglove and Belding entered during discussion on (the Air Pollution matter. I I :Numerous suggestions were made regarding steps to be taken for !more effective air pollution control and the types of materials jpermitted to be burned and times when such materials may be :burned, was discussed at length. It was suggested that because !of the possibility of numerous smog control measures being sub- jmitted and studied by the State Legislature this year, that the Board of Supervisors and. the City Council should try and ar- ! range a joint meeting with State Legislators at a special meet - ling to be called at the appropriate time to apprise our State Legislators of the County and City interests in the matter. I :The Chairman of the Board adjourned the meeting at 1:30 P.M. !
