City Council Memorandum
TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL DATE: May 10, 2011
FROM: PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT ITEM NO: 31
WARD: 4
SUBJECT: ESTABLISHMENT OF A TIMED 2 -HOUR PARKING ZONE ON INDIANA
AVENUE — RESOLUTION
ISSUE
The issue for City Council consideration is establishment of a timed 2 -Hour Parking Zone on the
north side of Indiana Avenue which would extend the existing zone east of Adams Street to
encompass the frontages of 8133, 8155 and 8177 Indiana Avenue.
RECOMMENDATIONS
That the City Council:
Adopt a Resolution to establish a "2 -Hour Parking Between the Hours of 7:00 a.m. and 6:00
p.m. Monday thru Friday, except holidays" zone on the north side of Indiana Avenue from
east of Motor Circle (west) to 500 feet easterly thereof; and
2. Authorize and direct the Traffic Engineer to revise the specific pages of the Master Parking
Schedule necessary to incorporate the amendment and distribute the revised pages to the
appropriate personnel with directions to delete the amended pages and insert the revised
pages in the appropriate tables.
COMMISSION RECOMMENDATIONS
On April 6, 2011, the Parking, Traffic and Streets (PT &S) Commission met to review this matter;
seven (7) of nine (9) members were present. The Commission voted unanimously to recommend
establishment of a timed 2 -Hour Parking Zone on the north side of Indiana Avenue from east of
Motor Circle (west) to 500 feet easterly thereof.
BACKGROUND
The Public Works Department received requests from ACN Properties and Nejedly & Hogencamp,
the respective owners of commercial properties located at 8133/8155 and 8177 Indiana Avenue, to
extend the existing timed 2 -Hour Parking zone on the north side of Indiana Avenue east of Adams
Street easterly to encompass the above noted properties. Extension of the existing timed 2 -Hour
Parking Zone would prevent long -term parking and provide additional short -term parking for the
adjacent businesses.
31 -1
