Jerry Brown, Speaker John Per6z (D -Los Angeles) and key members of the California <br />Senate and Assembly to discuss the status of legislative consideration of the Governor's proposal <br />to eliminate redevelopment agencies, enterprise zones, pension reform and other major issues. <br />The League's officers, President Jim Ridenour (Modesto mayor), First Vice President Mike <br />Kasperzak (Mountain View vice mayor), Second Vice President Bill Bogaard (Pasadena mayor), <br />and Past President Ron Loveridge (Riverside mayor), who filled in for Immediate Past President <br />Judy Mitchell, were joined by League Executive Director Chris McKenzie and Legislative Director <br />Dan Carrigg. Formore, see Page 2. <br />••••• ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• <br />LEAGUE OPPOSES MUNICIPAL BANKRUPTCY BILL, AB 506, <br />NEW BILL NUMBER, SAME OL' STORY <br />Last year the League opposed AB 155 (Mendoza) because it imposed unreasonable restrictions <br />on local government finance authority. This year, a new municipal bankruptcy bill, AB 506 <br />(Wieckowski), has been introduced, and like AB 155, it is co- sponsored by the California <br />Professional Firefighters Association. The bill will be heard on Wednesday, May 4, in the <br />Assembly Local Government Committee. Formore, see Page 2. <br />••••• ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• <br />CONTROLLER ADDS ANOTHER GROUP OF SPECIAL DISTRICTS <br />TO COMPENSATION REPORTING WEBSITE <br />State Controller John Chiang updated his Local Government Compensation Reporting website to <br />include salary, pension benefits and other employee compensation for several more special <br />districts. Hundreds of Cemetery, Electric, Financing and Construction, Facilities, Flood Control <br />and Water Conservation, Recreation and Park, and Community Service Districts were recently <br />added.
