RESOLUTION NO, 940 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY OF THE CITY OF <br />RIVERSIDE, CALIFORNIA, ADOPTING FINDINGS PURSUANT TO <br />HEALTH & SAFETY CODE SECTION 33445 AND AUTHORIZING <br />PAYMENT OF COSTS FOR PUBLICLY OWNED PROJECTS WITHIN OR <br />WITHOUT THE UNIVERSITY CORRIDOR/SYCAMORE CANYON <br />MERGED REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT AREA FOR THE CONSTRUCTION <br />OF A NEW FIRE STATION 1. <br />WHEREAS, the Redevelopment Agency of the City of Riverside, California ( "Agency ") <br />9 <br />10 <br />11 <br />12 <br />13 <br />14 <br />15 <br />16 <br />17 <br />18 <br />19 <br />20 <br />21 <br />22 <br />23 <br />24 <br />25 <br />26 <br />27 <br />28 <br />desires and intends to pay the cost for the construction of a new Fire Station 1 on the northwest <br />corner of University Avenue and Lime Street ( "Improvements) within or without the University <br />Corridor /Sycamore Canyon Merged Redevelopment Project Area (the "Project Area "); and <br />WHEREAS, Health and Safety Code Section 33445 provides that the Agency may, with <br />the consent of the legislative body, pay all or part of the value of the land for, and the cost of the <br />installation and construction of, any building, facility, structure, or other improvement that is <br />publicly owned either within or without the Project Area; and <br />WHEREAS, the Improvements will reduce blight in the Project Area and its surrounding <br />neighborhoods; and <br />WHEREAS, the Improvements will eliminate blight by providing public improvements <br />that facilitate the provision of essential fire prevention and response services within the Project <br />Area for residents, businesses and property owners and will promote the health, safety and <br />welfare of the community <br />WHEREAS, the legislative body of the Agency has consented to the Agency's paying for <br />the cost of the Improvements. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Redevelopment Agency of the City of <br />Riverside that staff is hereby authorized to pay for the costs for construction and installation of <br />the Improvements described in this resolution, based on the following findings: <br />Section 1 . The Improvements benefit the Project Area by providing in -fill development, <br />new construction and by helping to preserve and enhance the emergency response services for <br />residents, businesses and property owners. <br />1 <br />
