SUBMITTAL TO THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS s <br />COUNTY OF RIVERSIDE, STATE OF CALIFORNIA Ir wf` <br />FROM: The Registrar of Voters SUBMITTAL DATE: <br />SUBJECT: CONSOLIDATION OF SPECIAL ELECTION August 31, 2004 <br />C; <br />RECOMMENDED MOTION: That the Board approve consolidation of special municipal and school <br />district elections with the November 2, 2004 General Election and authorize the Registrar of Voters to <br />conduct subject elections for the Cities of Palm Springs, Perris and Riverside, and the Beaumont Unified <br />School District, Palm Springs Unified School District and Perris Union High School District pursuant to their <br />respective resolutions. <br />BACKGROUND: California Elections Code §10403 allows jurisdictions to request consolidation of special <br />elections by submitting a resolution to the Board of Supervisors not later than the 88 day before the <br />November 2, 2004 General Election. The Cities of Palm Springs, Perris and Riverside, and the Beaumont <br />Unified School District, Palm Springs Unified School District and Perris Union High School District have <br />complied with this requirement and request consolidation of their special elections. These jurisdictions <br />normally hold elections in the odd- numbered years. The measures to be placed on the ballot are attached <br />as Exhibit A. <br />The department has the resources to consolidate these elections concurrently with this year's General <br />Election.
