<br />Adjourned regular meeting of the Mayor and Council of the City of Riverside, held in the
<br />'Council Chamber, City Hall, on Tuesday, July 7, 1942, at 9:00 o'clock A. M., Pacific War Time.

<br />Present: Mayor Davison, presiding; Councilmen Rawlings, Williams, Carter, Barger, Dales,
<br />'Rathgeber and Harris; City Attorney Estudillo; and City Clerk Ni.111s.

<br />The Lord's prayer was recited in unison by the assembly.

<br />The :report of the Special Committee of the Council, consisting of Councilman Rawlings, Chair-
<br />,man, and Councilmen Carter and Rathgeber, heretofore appointed by the Mayor to confer with the Board
<br />of Supervisors of the County of Riverside with reference to the intention to charge the City of River-
<br />side rental, at the rate of $150.00 per month, for the use of the premises situated at the northwest
<br />corner of Eleventh and Orange Streets for Police Department,Headnuarters and City Jail purposes, was
<br />nade at this time, the Committee recommending that the, payment of such rent be agreed to, and that
<br />!provisions be made in the 1942-43 budget to cover the cost thereof; and upon motion of Councilman
<br />Carter, seconded by Councilman Ra.thgeber, the recommendat_on of the Committee was approved and it was
<br />so ordered.
<br />It was moved by Councilman Rathgeber, seconded. by Councilman Rawlings, that, pursuant to the
<br />recommendation of the General Committee of the Council, it is hereby agreed to provide quarters for
<br />3iverside.Rationing Board No. 1 at No. 4240 Main Street, commencing July 15, 1942, until further orders,
<br />at a rental of not to exceed $50.00 per month, provided, it is found legal to do so.
<br />This motion carried. by the following vote:
<br />Ayes: Councilmen Rawlings, Williams, Carter, Barger, Dales, Rathgeber and Harris.
<br />Noes: None.

<br />The report of the Special Committee of the Council, consisting of Councilman Rawlings, Chair-
<br />man, and Councilman Ra,thgeber, heretofore appointed by the Mayor, to confer with proper authorities
<br />with reference to the assignment of troops from the California State Guard for guard duty in the City
<br />of Riverside, was made at this time, theCommittee recommending that, due to the seeming impossibility
<br />of making, definite arrangements in the matter,, the Committee be dismissed; and upcn motion of Council-
<br />mar., Barger, seconded by Councilman Harris, the recommendation was approved, and it was so ordered.

<br />It was moved by Councilman Dales, seconded by Councilman Carter, that, for reasons found
<br />satisfactory to the Council, a refund to P. M.,Bevingtpn, No. 7059 Indiana Avenue, in the sum of $4.33, 4
<br />I' being the amount of the assessment heretofore levied against Lots 38, 40, and 41, Block 1, of Orange
<br />Acres, for the removal of weeds therefrom during the season of 1940, as per Tax Statement No. 10796,
<br />be, and the same is hereby, approved, and a warrant in payment thereof is hereby ordered drawn.
<br />This motion carried by the following vote: -
<br />Ayes: Councilmen Rawlings, Williams, Carter, Barger, Dales, Rathgeber end Harris.
