M. <br />t~s <br />Roll Call Present: Mayor Evans, presiding; Councilmen Redman, Williams, Carter, Barger, Dales, <br />Rathgeber and Harris; and City Clerk Mills. <br />•s• <br />Invocation Invocation was offered by Councilman Vera L. Barger. <br />Minutes The minutes of the meeting of December 19, 1939, were read and approved. <br />w*. <br />Billiard It was moved by Councilman Williams, seconded by Councilman Rathgeber, that, pursuant to <br />parlor - <br />the recommendation of the Chief of Police, as set forth in his communication of December 20, 1939. <br />Eddie <br />Cabrera this day received and filed, the application heretofore made by Eddie Cabrera, for permission to <br />operate and maintain a billiard parlor at No. 3115 Madison Street, Casa Blanca, be, and the same is <br />hereby, denied. <br />This motion carried by the following vote: <br />Ayes: Councilmen Redman, Williams, Carter, Barger, Dales, Rathgeber and Harris. <br />Noes: None. <br />Absent: None. <br />r~• <br />Refund - It was moved by Councilman Rathgeber, seconded by Councilman Barger, that, pursuant to the <br />C. B. Estle ! information set forth in his communication of December 18, 1939, this day received and filed, a <br />refund to C. B. Estle, No. 1125 W. Vernon Avenue, Los Angeles, California, in the sum of $4.00, being <br />a portion of an assessment, amounting to $7.70, heretofore levied against Lot 50, of Valley View <br />Tract, for the removal of weeds therefrom during the season of 1937, be, and the same is hereby, <br />approved, and a warrant in payment thereof is hereby ordered drawn. <br />' i <br />This motion carried by the following vote: <br />j Ayes: Councilman Redman, Williams, Carter, Barger, Dales, Rathgeber and Harris. <br />Noes: None. <br />Absent: None. <br />a4a <br />i <br />I Lease - A communication from Oscar Crowell, under date of December 22, 1939, giving notice of <br />i <br />Oscar his desire to surrender his lease covering the use of the property belonging to the City of Riverside <br />Crowell - <br />known as the Fair Grounds, effective as of February 1, 1940, with the understanding that he will <br />Fair <br />Grounds be allowed to remove the fertilizer that he has stored upon grounds during a period of sixty days, <br />from the termination of the lease, was received and filed; whereupon, it was moved by Councilman <br />Harris, seconded by Councilman Carter, that the surrender of the said lease on the terms indicated, <br />be, and the same is hereby, consented to. <br />This motion carried by the following vote: <br />Ayes: Councilmen Rodman, Williams, Carter, Barger, Dales, Rathgeber and Harris. <br />Noes: None. <br />Absent: None. <br />•~w <br />Damage <br />Upon motion of <br />Councilman Williams, seconded by Councilman Harris, <br />the demand of the <br />claim - <br />Western Fruit Growers, I <br />ncorporated, as set forth in the communication of G. <br />V.
