1 <br /> <br /> 2 <br /> <br /> 3 <br /> <br /> 4 <br /> <br /> 5 <br /> <br /> 6 <br /> <br /> 7 <br /> <br /> 8 <br /> <br /> 9 <br /> <br />10 <br /> <br />11 <br /> <br />12 <br /> <br />13 <br /> <br />14 <br /> <br />15 <br /> <br />16 <br /> <br />17 <br /> <br />18 <br /> <br />19 <br /> <br />20 <br /> <br />21 <br /> <br />22 <br /> <br />23 <br /> <br />24 <br /> <br />25 <br /> <br />26 <br /> <br />27 <br /> <br />ORDNANCE NO. 6468 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING <br />CHAPTER 13.12 OF THE RIVERSIDE MUNICIPAL CODE BY REPLACING, IN ITS <br />ENTIRETY, SECTION 13.12.070 TO PLACE A ONE YEAR EXPIRATION DATE ON <br />CERTAIN EXCAVATION PERMITS. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Riverside currently requires persons who tear up, excavate, open <br />or remove any part of a street, alley, public parking space or public roadway easement in the City to <br /> <br />first obtain a written permit from the Director of Public Works ("Excavation Permits"); and <br /> WHEREAS, Excavation Permits currently have no expiration date; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Public Works Department has found that applicants will obtain <br /> Excavation Permits and after completing the required work fail to request an inspection to finalize <br /> the permit, thereby preventing the Department from closing the particular Excavation Permit file; <br /> and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Public Works Department desires a method of closing active Excavation <br />permits when an applicant has failed to finalize the Excavation Permit within one year from the date <br />of issuance. <br /> <br /> NOW THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Riverside, California, does ordain as <br /> <br />follows: <br /> <br />Section 1: That Chapter 13.12 of the Riverside Municipal Code is hereby amended by <br /> <br />amending Section 13.12.070 in its entirety to read as follows: <br /> <br />"It is unlawful for any person to tear up, excavate, open or remove any part of a <br />street, alley, public parking space or public roadway easement in the City without <br />first having obtained from the Director of Public Works a written permit. Permits <br />issued by the Director of Public Works are not transferable under any <br />circumstances and shall expire one year from the date of issuance, after which <br />time a new permit shall be required." <br /> <br /> Section 2: The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this ordinance and cause <br />publication once in a newspaper of general circulation in accordance with Section 414 of the <br />Charter of the City of Riverside.
