Accept the resignation of Suzanne Puffer, Ward 2 seat, from the Commission on Disabilities <br />effective July 7, 2009; <br />2. Request the Mayor to send a letter thanki ng Ms. Puffer for the time she spent on <br />the Commission on Disabilities; and <br />3. Request the Mayor, in consultation with t he Ward 2 Councilmember, appoint to fill the <br />Ward 2 seat on the Commission on Disabilities after the position has been vacant for sixty days. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />On July 7, 2009, the City Clerk’s Office received a resignation letter from Suzanne Puffer from the <br />Ward 2 seat on the Commission on Disabilities. Charter Section 802 provides that all boards and <br />commissions shall have representation from each of the seven Council wards. <br />Pursuant to Charter Section 805, once the position has been vacant for sixty days, the Mayor may <br />appoint any qualified elector of the Ward to fill the vacancy. The Mayor’s Office and the City Clerk <br />will coordinate review of applications in consultation with Councilmember Melendrez. <br />FISCAL IMPACT: <br />Recruitment and appointment costs are included annually in the City Clerk’s budget. <br />Prepared by: Colleen J.
