==: <br />City Council Memorandum <br />City �1"Arts & Innovation <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL DATE: APRIL 10, 2012 <br />FROM: PARKS, RECREATION AND COMMUNITY ITEM NO: 28 <br />SERVICES DEPARTMENT <br />WARD: 3 <br />SUBJECT: REQUEST TO ENTER INTO SECOND AMENDMENT TO AGREEMENT FOR THE <br />MANAGEMENT AND OPERATION OF THE JANET GOESKE SENIOR CENTER <br />ISSUE: <br />The issue for City Council authorization is approval of a Second Amendment to the Agreement <br />with the Janet Goeske Foundation for the Management and Operation of the Janet Goeske Center <br />for Senior /Handicapped Citizens (Center). <br />RECOMMENDATIONS <br />That the City Council: <br />1. Approve the Second Amendment to Agreement for the Management and Operation of the <br />Janet Goeske Senior Center; and <br />2. Authorize the City Manager, or his designee, to execute all necessary documents to <br />implement the Agreement. <br />BACKGROUND <br />On August 28, 1996, the City of Riverside entered into an Agreement with the Janet Goeske <br />Foundation (Foundation). The Agreement required the Parks, Recreation and Community <br />Services Department to provide $300,468 annually for the maintenance and operation <br />of the Center. The Agreement was effective from July 1, 1996 through June 30, 2006. On <br />July 11, 2006, the City Council approved the extension of the Agreement through <br />December 31, 2006. On January 16, 2007, the City Council approved an extension of the <br />Agreement through December 31, 2007, with a retroactive increase to July 1, 2006 totaling <br />$30,575 per month to assist the Foundation with operation and maintenance costs. <br />The Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department and the Foundation subsequently <br />entered into anew Agreement effective January 1, 2008 through June 30, 2010. Under the terms <br />of that contract, the City agreed to pay the cost of electrical service at the Center, plus <br />$100,897.50 quarterly for the operation and maintenance of the facility as outlined in the <br />Agreement. <br />28 -1 <br />
