C •.,t OF <br />r 1 l , <br />k,EIE <br />City Council Memorandum <br />Citi —I rlrt.; & Innovation <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL DATE: APRIL 10, 2012 <br />FROM: CITY CLERK'S OFFICE ITEM NO: 25 <br />WARDS: ALL <br />SUBJECT: BOARD AND COMMISSION RESIGNATION /APPOINTMENT <br />ISSUE <br />The City Council is being asked to accept a resignation from the Commission on Disabilities <br />and fill the Ward 4 seat on the Human Resources Board. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />That the City Council: <br />1. Accept the resignation of Tyrell H. Lawyer from the Commission on Disabilities Ward 2 seat <br />effective immediately, request the City Clerk to process the vacancy, and request the <br />Mayor send a letter thanking Mr. Lawyer for time invested serving on the Commission; and <br />2. Appoint Holly Evans to the Ward 4 seat on the Human Resources Board for a term ending <br />March 1, 2015. <br />BACKGROUND <br />On April 4, 2012, the City Clerk's Office received a resignation from Tyrell H. Lawyer of the <br />Commission on Disabilities. His term on the Commission expires on March 1, 2013. Mr. Lawyer <br />represented Ward 2 on the Commission. Relocation to Ward 1 caused Mr. Lawyer to be <br />ineligible to hold the Ward 2 seat. <br />Mayor Loveridge and Council Member Davis recommend appointment of Holly Evans to the <br />Ward 4 seat on the Human Resources Board for a term ending March 1, 2015, filling a vacancy <br />created by the resignation of Robin Treen. <br />Pursuant to Charter Section 802, each board and commission must have at least one <br />representative from each of the Council Wards. The vacancies will be filled with a registered <br />voter from the respective Wards in compliance with that Charter requirement. <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />Recruitment and appointment costs are included annually in the City Clerk's Office budget. <br />25 -1 <br />
